Life is a walk

Yes, I’m aware the phrase is life is a journey or life is a highway, but hear me out. Life is a walk. There are phases, different scenery, different paces, etc.


Sometimes when walking you are walking with a fast pace, goal-oriented with the mindset of getting to your location or losing weight perhaps. That’s the times in life that you are focused, moving at a quicker pace towards a goal or dream. It's a goal-oriented future focused pace.


Then there are the walks that are meant for getting fresh air, enjoying some nature. We will call these more medium paced, slowing down just enough to take nature and the benefits of life in. Focusing on enjoying the present best you can, but also distracted by other thoughts versus just enjoyment. I often find myself in this phase when I am struggling through obstacles. I need the fresh air to calm and ground me, yet my mind is distracted by the obstacles at hand.


Then there are the slow, often stopping, sometimes dancing walks (I don't know about you but I take dance breaks on walks when I'm feeling good). These are for when you are totally at peace with who you are, where you are, and you are thoroughly soaking in the moment. Totally immersed in the present, ejoying life. No looking at the past, not looking towards the future but just living in the now.


These different walks and different phases of life can be long or short, depending on your own personal journey. Each has their benefits; each has their purpose.


Today, I’m letting my hair down and slow walking.
